The portrait is straightforward: a grey koala with big ears, a wide black nose and furry front paws poking out from under the Hawaiian shirt. Nothing more. I created him head-on, with the flower print up front, so on a t-shirt it reads at a glance, no background noise.

And it works precisely because it isn't a gag. This isn't a cute-little-animal t-shirt: it's a guy with character you warm to right away, calm, the sort who doesn't get rattled by anything. Cooper is like that in his story too: warm, slow to speak, one of those who take things easy. That unhurried way of being is what you're wearing, and that's why it fits almost any day.

Take a look at those furry paws poking out under the shirt. Koalas have the strangest hand: two opposable fingers -two "thumbs"- on each front paw instead of one. With that double pincer they grip the eucalyptus branches so firmly it doesn't slip even when they're asleep, and they sleep a lot.
