Canis lupus arctos

A route done well doesn't need you to explain it afterwards.

High Arctic tundra, exclusively north of the tree line: Queen Elizabeth Archipelago (Ellesmere, Axel Heiberg, Devon, Ellef Ringnes) in Canada and northern Greenland. A landscape of permanent permafrost without tree cover, with temperatures that swing between -50 °C in winter and 5-10 °C in the brief Arctic summer.

A Metal Box

In his story, Benjamin grew up in Igloolik, a small town in northern Canada. At twenty-five, his uncle Thomas pulled a metal box out of the back of the closet; inside was a thin silver chain, its shine already dulled with wear. "It was James's. It's yours now," he said, and nothing more. James was his father. Benjamin looked at it for a long minute without touching it, then put it on. He hasn't taken it off since, except when working with machinery. If anyone asks about it, he says it was a gift.

To Hang at Home

This print comes framed, ready to put on the wall with no extra fuss. The portrait is the same one as always: the wolf front-on, the silver jacket, that chain you now know the story behind. It looks good in an entryway or above a desk, somewhere you'll catch sight of it in passing. If you'd rather hang it your own way, the same portrait is also available as an unframed print. And if you want to know who Benjamin really is, his story is in the character's biography.

  • Animal Kinhood is a series of anthropomorphic animal portraits created by Yago Partal. Each portrait features a real species dressed in clothing that reflects its personality, blending photography, illustration, and artificial intelligence.
  • If you notice a print defect (misaligned colours, stains, missing ink areas), contact us with photos at mail@yagopartal.com. Production defects are resolved with a replacement at no extra cost.
  • AI is a tool within the creative process, not the process itself. Yago directs each portrait: researching the species, designing the character, and manually selecting and editing the result. The artistic decision is always human.
