A “community forest” is where the local community plays a significant role in forest management and we have supported CFUG’s in developing sustainable medicinal plant growing and livestock management, as well as reforestation strategies. Our long-term goal is to help these groups establish forest management practices that are economically and ecologically beneficial.
We are confident that a holistic forest management approach is the best way to accomplish this. Local forests will be seen as an asset and the long term protection of the PIT corridor will be ensured.
80% of your donations go directly to managing these activities and support our conservation efforts around the world. The other 20% is used to support our administrative costs in the United States and Nepal. We work with many enthusiastic volunteers to keep costs at a minimum. We thank you for your support in enabling us to make a difference for red pandas and local communities.
